This is a modern fairy tale with echoes of Hans Andersen's The Little mermaid and perhaps a bit of Dvork's opera Rusalka. However, I think this is a great improvment. If Andersen were alive today and read it, he would be envious. No spoilers, so I won't go into the plot, but it is about a surprising and enchanted (literally!) romance. Highly recommended.
