From the first, I was caught up with the characters and the city where they lived. Damsport, is not your usual Londonesque city that you find in most steampunk novels, but a city with a flavor very much all its own. The same can be said for the characters, not just the main characters, Rory and Longinus, but all the characters you meet throughout the series, each whose personalities are unique, unconventional and flawed. I also love that the romantic interests in the books is not between the main characters. Instead their�s is a curious partnership with an unexpected depth to it.
So, if you are interested in unique characters, an interesting setting, a bit of political intrigue and a bad@#! guard named Rafe, whom I have a particular soft spot for, then this series is worth giving a try.

From the-bloodless-assassin who�s title character�s extreme phobia about blood is at odds with his job as an assassin to the team of spies sent to spark a revolution in the-slave-city, this is a series I can�t get enough of. The author has a way of making the reader engage with all her characters (refer to the blurb of the-slave-city.). And her settings are vibrant, colorful, dark and dangerous. Steampunk devices (especially a spider) combine with a fantasy setting to create this truly unique and entertaining series. Highly recommended!

Great reads in steampunk tradition
Adventure, action, and humor at your finger tips. The reader can really get absorbed into this set. You'll anxiously await the author's next offering.

Very fun reads.
These stories are such a fun read. Set in a time that feels like the Industrial Revolution, a street urchin / thief meets an assassin. The two adversaries grow to tolerate and perhaps respect each other.
There's humour, action, intrigue, romance, thievery, and spying. Fast action. Fun contraptions.
I think if you like Lindsay Buroker's Emperor's Edge series, you'll also like this read.
Also, if you check-out Celine Jeanjean's website, you'll get the free pre-quel, "The pickpocket". It's a story about Rory, and provides a background on how she grew up.
